Housing Choice Voucher
Also known as Section 8, this federal rent subsidy program currently administers 2,705 vouchers helping families afford private-market rentals in Merced County.
Public Housing
The Authority owns and manages 421 public housing units comprising apartments, duplexes, and single-family homes for income-eligible residents.
Project Based Voucher
Rental assistance attached to specific privately-owned units. Unlike Housing Choice Vouchers, Project Based Voucher assistance cannot be transferred to another property.
Seasonal Migrant Housing
Four seasonal centers across Merced County providing temporary furnished housing to migrant farm workers during the growing and harvest season, April through November.
Year-Round Farm Labor
USDA-funded program providing 60 year-round rental units for domestic farmworkers and their families at the Felix Torres Farmworker Housing Center in Planada.
Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
Violence Against Women Act protections for all housing program participants who are victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
Rental Assistance Demonstration
The RAD program allows public housing agencies to convert units to project-based voucher or project-based rental assistance.
Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS)
A voluntary five-year program combining case management, education, training, and supportive services with rental assistance to help families gain financial independence.
