Position Summary

Under supervision of the assigned program manager, maintains tenant files and records, and performs general clerical and typing duties of average difficulty.

Primary responsibility is to control incoming phone lines and function as a receptionist to the general public entering the office. Also responsible for the acceptance and maintaining of Low Income and Section 8 applications for housing assistance; perform general clerical and typing duties of average difficulty; respond to public and tenant questions/complaints, and perform other related work as required, within classification.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
Equivalent to completion of high school, and some degree of practical experience in the performance of general filing and record-keeping functions. A GED certificate or other certification from a technical or vocational school in any area related to general office or clerical proficiency will be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma.
Experience
Must demonstrate some current or previous practical experience in a general clerical/administrative function. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to type at least 30 words per minute at 90% or above accuracy.
Licenses
Must possess a valid California Driver's License and must present a DMV printout if required by the employer for verification. Applicant must meet insurability requirements.
Physical Requirements
Essential functions may require bending, stooping, lifting (usually 25 lbs. or less), turning, carrying objects, grasping, and safely negotiating within worksite. Requires normal visual and auditory acuity. Requires remaining in a sitting position for extended periods and a high level of manipulative dexterity to operate office equipment with a keyboard.
Other Requirements
U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence status. Must provide identity and employment authorization documentation. Pre-employment physical examination and drug-free status certification required.
